Please, join the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Subgroup of the GEO Programme Board in our 2025 webinar series and be inspired by engaging stories from around the world that celebrate gender, indigenous people and youth perspectives in the Earth observation community. These webinars will be held as the world is recognizing women, indigenous people, and youth on their United Nations designated International Days.
The theme of the 2025 UN International Women's Day is For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. In this webinar we invite a diverse group of women from around the world to tell stories about how they have been empowered through the use of Earth observations. Gender perspectives within development and usage of Earth observation should increasingly be integrated when providing Earth intelligence. The webinar offers inspirational stories and examples of how that can be done.
Celebrating the UN International Women's Day has become a tradition. 2025 is a special year as it marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. In these 30 years we can proudly observed huge progress globally, but unfortunately also some local regressions. It is a reminder that we, as a global society, cannot take further progress for granted. This year, the Group on Earth Observation wants to showcase stories on how Earth observation empowers early career and senior professionals alike. We aim to inspire all generations women to include Earth observations as they contribute to solve our societal challenges.
This webinar aims to reach the women of all ages, and all individuals within Global Earth observation community, scientists, data experts, innovation community, trainers, educators, researchers, applied scientists and policy makers.
